The Retirement Section (Regents) was formed in November 1970, with the approval of the Board, to contribute to the fuller enjoyment of the leisure hours now at the disposal of an increasing number of retired and semi-retired members. The main objective was to arrange regular times on 1 or 2 days a week during the whole year where members could attend the Club and be reasonably certain that several of their fellow members would be present to join in mutual interests.

Any retired or semi-retired member aged 50 or over, can join the section for a small membership fee, currently £11 per year.

The section organises a number of individual competitions held on a Tuesday or Thursday morning that is additional to the Club’s competitions. All are stableford scoring apart from one which is medal scoring. There is no charge to enter these competitions and all winners receive prizes.

In addition a number of friendly interclub matches, home and away, are arranged where teams of 12 players from each club, playing in pairs, play match play against each other and enjoy drinks and food afterwards. We currently play against 9 other clubs plus we have 2 matches against our own Ladies Section.

Every year there is an Annual Dinner and Prize Presentation where the whole section gathers to congratulate the winners and celebrate the year, look forward to the next and socialise together.

The Section also organises and runs a Seniors Open each year creating profits that are used by the Club for the benefit of all members.

So, if you are new to the club, aged 50 or over, just retired or semi-retired and fancy meeting and playing with different members with a range of golfing abilities come and join us. You will enjoy it.
